Hello,

My name is Maitland(Mate-Lyn-d) Garey,

Owner, and operator of TCG Doula Services. Many years prior to becoming a doula, I’ve worked in childcare and various caregiving positions, eventually honing in on my desire to support expecting birthing families. I am a ProDoula certified Labor Doula and Postpartum Placenta Specailist. I do plan to become certified in postpartum, as well as offering childbirth classes. Now as I embark on this new branch on my tree of experiences, I hope that I can help address questions and issues in our birthing community here in Grand Traverse area. I welcome suggestions, comments, and into the well of information we have available regarding pregnancy, labor, and birth. I don’t have all the answers, but I will do my best to find the resources to address them.

I am passionate about educating the local community on desirable birth work. My favorite past times are spent with my husband and our four cats!

I believe in supporting parents through the type of birth or parenting philosophy they desire. Natural water-birth, Awesome! Induction with epidural, You go girl! We have no personal agenda to get parents to make particular choices - every situation is unique. It is my mission to provide respectful, and compassionate support throughout the childbearing year with an emphasis on education, self-discovery and empowerment for those planning hospital or home births. As a doula, it is my professional goal for every woman to feel proud and empowered after they give birth, no matter what path the birth journey takes.
